Philip A. Robinson Jr. born in Manhattan, New York, 1983, received his BS in Studio Art and Sculpture in 2005 from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York. He completed his MFA in Sculpture at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey in 2008.

Robinson uses sculpture to interpret and express his ideas and feelings surrounding Love, Women of Color, Idolized Male figures, Music, Fashion and the “celebrity.” He creates a dialogue between the dichitomy of ‘celebrity’ that allows a media driven audience time to adopt and discuss.

Currently, probing the iconic figure and image, Robinson relates the ideals and perceptions of the “celebrity” to the achievement gap, and priorities of today’s high school student.
